AASL Standards for 21st-Century Learner
The responsibility of School Library Media Specialists is three fold:
1) to develop students’ appreciation of literature and reading;
2) to develop students’ ability to use information efficiently and effectively to understand and communicate ideas;and
3) to develop students’ ability to use technology as a tool for interacting with data, text and digital/sound files.
The focus is on providing the necessary skills and strategies to design and implement assignments in the content areas that require students to interact with and use information in meaningful ways.
