These are the routines and procedures followed here at Prince Street School.
Media Center P.R.I.D.E
PREPARED - return books on time.
RESPECTFUL - treat others and books with respect. INDIVIDUALLY RESPONSIBLE - for what we say and do DEMONSTRATE SELF-CONTROL - use inside voices, walk in the library and sit correctly in your seat. EAGER AND READY TO LEARN - listen attentively and follow directions Media Center hours
The media center opens at 7:30am daily.
We close at 2:30pm so that students can be dismissed on time. |
Book Checkout
Students in Kindergarten and first grade will checkout one book. Kindergartener's first checkout will be the first class in January.
Students in grades two through five will be able to checkout two books. Students visit the media center once during the 6 day cycle. Students can keep a book up to 2 weeks without penalty. After 2 weeks books are considered overdue. What happens if my child fails to return a book? An overdue notice will be sent home to parents with progress reports and report cards. You have several options * find and return the book * replace the book with a book of equal value * pay the fine |

Selection criteria for all resources is aligned with county guidelines. The media specialist reads book reviews, stays up-to-date on award-winning books, receives recommendations from teachers and students, and strives for a collection that emphasizes educational relevance, diversity, and high interest.

Grading Policy
Ratings for Special Areas
In schools where certified media specialists are providing instruction, students will receive one of the following ratings:
a. O - Outstanding - Student consistently demonstrates and applies understanding independently in a variety of settings.
b. S - Satisfactory - Student demonstrates some understanding and applies understanding in a variety of settings.
c. U - Unsatisfactory - Student is consistently unable to demonstrate and apply understanding.
Rating *Percentage Range - O = 90-100; S = 70-89; U = 0-69
*Note: Any grade 0.5 or higher will round to the next whole number.
